Sparklers Dance Team
Are you a current Draper Intermediate 6th grader or
Cooper JHS 7th grader, who is interested in trying out
for the Cooper Junior High School Sparklers Dance Team?
The parent meeting for all interested
candidates will be held on March 19th or March 26th at 6:00pm in the
Cooper Junior High Library.
You will a receive tryout packet and more information,
at the meeting. Attendance at this meeting is

Soccer Season Information
Junior High soccer is returning to Wylie ISD!
Try outs will be held on 3/17 – 3/19. The 7th grade boys and girls
will try out starting at 6:45AM. The 8th grade boys and girls will
try out after school, and will be finished around 5:00PM.
In order to try out all athletes must have a WISD Physical Packet
on file with either Coach Chesnut or Coach Jones. Athletes will not
be allowed to try out with incomplete paperwork. If your child is
already enrolled in athletics then we already have the required
We will take around 17 athletes per team. All games will be played
on Tuesday nights with the exception of one Thursday game.

Attention Parents & Students:
The GT screening window is March 17-April 4th. Parents and students may request that the student be screened. Parents and students can pick up the paperwork in the front office or download it from the district web site. If you would like to request that student be screened, let me know and I will get you the paperwork you need to fill out.The GT testing day will be on Saturday, May 3rd this year.
The Cooper JHS Sparkler parent meeting for the 2014-2015 school year is March 19th or March 26th at 6:00 pm in the CJHS Library. Parents only have to attend one meeting. Attendance is mandatory for your daughter to be able to try out for Sparklers.
Congratulations to the Cast and Crew of “The Marvelous Playbill” for winning FIRST PLACE in UIL One Act Play. This is a first for Cooper Junior High. They also received several honors. Way to go!
On March the 3rd-7th, we are going to have "March Madness" here at Cooper Junior High. We are encouraging all of our students and staff to wear their college shirts all 5 days. Throughout this week, each day will have a theme:
Major Monday—when you go to college you have to pick a major.
Tuition Tuesday—the cost of college varies greatly.
Where to go Wednesday—what should you consider when selecting a college.
THIS Thursday set a goal for yourself about something you will do to get there!
Finish Friday—it’s not just about getting to college, it’s about graduating .
Advanced Theatre Class for 2014-2015:
Auditions for the Advanced Theatre class for 2014-2015 will be on Thursday, March 6th after school until 6:00 in Ms. Davis' room. Students may sign up for a time to audition with Ms. Davis. The auditions are open to all 7th graders that are interested in producing and acting in plays for the public. There are spaces available for actors and techies (backstage crew). Actors will need a 1 minute monologue and a letter explaining why they should be in the Advanced theatre. Tech/Crew should bring a resume, or a portfolio with their previous work and a letter explaining why they should be in advanced theatre. Cooper Junior High does not have a required student supply list.
\At the secondary level due to the unique needs of each different
course in each subject area it is better to begin the year with
general supplies that can be used in all classes. Listed below are
suggested items for both grade levels.

Think College Thursday
One of the tenets of The Wylie Way is a focus on College
Readiness; therefore, our district will utilize every Thursday
as “Think College Thursdays.” Each Thursday our campus
will encourage all students and staff to wear any college
or university polo, t-shirt, or sweatshirt with their dress
code pants. We will also use Thursdays to begin to promote
