Nurse Terry’s Notes:
Greetings to all parents, guardians, students, families of students,
The temperature has fallen outside and we have rounded the corner into cold and flu season. While Influenza (flu) is the talk of the town, the basics in health and wellness are the same for all seasons! Here are the recommendations from the CDC for staying healthy when there are germs and viruses all around us.
*Wash hands often with soap and water or use an alcohol-based hand rub
*Cover your nose and mouth with a cough or sneeze--catch the cough
*Try to avoid close contact with sick
*Stay home if you are sick
*Be wise, immunize
When should my child stay home?
*Temperature 100 degrees or higher, CDC guidelines support staying home for 24 hours fever free without fever reducing medication
*Unable to keep food and fluids down, stay home for 24 hours after vomiting and diarrhea have ended
If you have questions, concerns, would like to talk about your student's individual concerns please contact me at 972-429-3258.
Parents, you may now use Parent Access to send a note to excuse an absence by the following the steps below:
- Log in to your Family Access (where you check your grades)
- Click on “Attendance” under the General Information
- Select the “Absence Notifications” tab
- Click on “Add Notification”
- Then you will use the “pull down” tables to enter times and reason for the absences. Add any additional comments you wish.
- Click on the “Save” button.
In order for an absence to be excused, a student must bring a note from a Parent/Guardian or original documentation from a medical facility, court, etc. or submit a note using Parent Access within three (3) days of the student’s return to school. If your child accumulates unexcused absences that total three (3) days or parts of days in a four week period or ten (10) or more days within a six month period, you and/or your child can be prosecuted for violation of the Compulsory Attendance Law. Thank you for your help in keeping your child’s attendance up to date. If you have any questions regarding your child’s attendance, please contact our Assistant Principal, Cody Plake at (972)429-3256
