Mr. Cooper headshot

Raymond Cooper founded Universal Transformer Company in 1957. It was located in Wylie for forty-five years until it moved to Farmersville in 2002. Mr. Cooper served on numerous boards and committees including the Wylie Lions Club, the Wylie Chamber of Commerce, the North Texas Municipal Water District Board, and the Wylie Christian Care Center Board. He was named Citizen of the Year by the Wylie Chamber of Commerce in 1988 and 2003. Mr. Cooper originally donated the land and organized volunteers to construct the building for the Wylie Christian Care Center, which is currently located on Ballard Avenue; this center has helped hundreds of families in the surrounding area with food, clothing, and utility assistance. He was married to his wife Sue Anderson for nearly 54 years, and together they had three children and seven grandchildren.
